We were delighted to host the September Area Cattlemen’s Meeting at the farm in Shuqualak. We had members representing the Mississippi counties of Noxubee, Lowndes, Oktibbeha, Winston, Neshoba, and Lauderdale, and Alabama had members from both Pickens and Sumter counties. Dr. Brandi Bourg Karisch, Cattle Specialist from MSU, presented a great program on the value of choosing a bull with known EPD’s versus an unknown from an auction barn and the real dollar values that unknowns can cost over the life of the bull. She also expanded on the real dollar values that known EPD’s can add to a herd during that same life span. We were honored to have Mississippi Cattlemen’s Association President, Jacob Megehee, present and presiding over the meeting. Mr. Jacob is a tremendous ambassador for the cattle industry everywhere he goes. We thank him for representing all of us with such knowledge and enthusiasm!
