Whitestone Black Arrow Z101

The newly acquired Whitestone Black Arrow Z101 is possibly the best young herd sire in Billings, Montana at the Genex facility according to Tom Burke with the American Angus Hall of Fame.  He is jointly owned by Tanner Farms, Whitestone Farm, Genex CRI and a group of progressive breeders. This promising herd sire is residing at the Genex facility and they are handling the semen services for him.  Tanner Farms this past week had their first calves sired by Whitestone Black Arrow. We are excited about this great herd sire prospect and look forward to the future progeny he will produce. The calves that were born this week look exceptional. If you are interested in purchasing semen, contact Genex. Click on the link below to see video footage of this great sire.

How to Participate As An Absentee Buyer

We prefer for each of you to be in attendance on sale day. Realistically, we know there will be some scheduling conflicts and distance limitations.  In these cases, we have arranged for you to be able to participate in the sale on an absentee basis.

If possible, you can come by and evaluate the cattle prior to sale day. If distance is a problem, we can provide you with a  DVD of all the cattle for home viewing.  All of the lots in the sale will be available for viewing online prior to sale day at www.superiorlive.com.

Here’s how it works.  Please call Superior Productions at 800-431-4452 and pre-register for your buyers number. A registration form needs to be filled out and returned to Superior Productions with a signature on it.  This registration form can be found by clicking on the “REGISTER FOR YOUR BUYER’S NUMBER” link online at www.superiorlive.com.  The registration form can be printed, completed and either faxed or mailed in at the number or address provided on the form.  Upon receipt of this information, Superior will call you with a buyer’s number and the bid line phone number that you will use on sale day to place bids over the phone.

The sale will be broadcast via the internet at www. superiorlive.com.  Simply go to www.superiorlive.com and on the home page click on the link titled “To Watch Today’s Auction-click here”.  Regardless of internet connection, you will be able to view and listen to the video and audio feed.  For the bidding process-follow the auction on the internet and call the bid line number to place your bids.  Your computer must have Flash Media Player installed to view the auction.

Bidders who are successful in making purchases over the internet will be contacted by Tanner Farms after the sale to settle payment and make shipping arrangements.

Schaff Angus Valley & Cow Chips Heat Watch

Things have been busy around the farm since the beginning of the new year; flushing donors, transferring eggs, and calving!  We have gotten off to a great start with our breeding season and are looking forward to some promising pregnancies! Gary, Tim, and Drew have just returned from a trip to Schaff Angus Valley and they really enjoyed their time at the Schaff farm.  It is really amazing to see how people farm in different areas of the country especially in such wintry conditions and have such a successful operation.  Farming is like other lines of work in that it is always helpful to see how other producers are meeting challenges and solving problems to make their operation more successful and efficient. Speaking of efficiency, our new Cow Chips Heat Watch system is on its way! We are looking forward to working with this new technology and hope to enjoy the success of this investment. We are also looking to shoot new video of our bulls  at the end of February and it should be live by mid-March. Keep checking!

A Great Sale and Wonderful Christmas

We wanted to thank everyone who helped make our December 4th sale a success! We enjoyed seeing our familiar customers as well as some new faces.  We trust the animals you purchased will make a big impact to your bottom line and will be rock solid performers. We always have fun on sale day and we hope you did, too.  On a personal note our Christmas this year was a real blast. We had three little girls under the age of two opening gifts-actually one that opened them for everyone- and it was great fun experiencing the magic of Christmas through the eyes of a child once again! It was bedlam for a brief moment but we wouldn’t trade it for anything. As we look toward the new year, we are anticipating a wonderful year of cattle herding, child rearing, and making life moments that really count.  We hope to see you at our Spring sale on April 23, 2011 and if we can help in any way between now and then, just let us know. Happy New Year!
